After
a year of both private and public testing, the first non-beta version
of SpecsIntact 3 (version 0.252) was released by the SpecsIntact
development team. The software incorporates the new WordSpec
2 as an alternative editor.

The following
was supplied to SpecsIntact
by USACE and NAVFAC:
"The Military Services plan to implement a new
guide specification system in March 2001. The new system will be
available from the Military Services web sites about 25 March 2001 and
on CCB disk Number 56.
The new system has the name Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS)
and will replace the current construction guide specifications of the
Army Corps of Engineers, the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, and
the Air Force Civil Engineer Support Agency.
This action is in accordance with House Conference Report 105-247 requiring
unified design guidance for the Tri-Services."

The Kennedy Space
Center's new phone system was implemented in the SpecsIntact Technical
Support office, changing how calls are routed. The Support phone
number -- (321) 867-8800 -- has

were released on the Masters

was released by the development team for download. This was
the first version of the software capable of using the UFGS Masters.

SpecsIntact
3.1.290 was released by the development team for download and for
release on CCB disc #56. This version of the software is capable
of using the UFGS Masters.

SPECSINTACT Interagency Configuration Control and Coordinating Board,
made up of representatives from NASA, NAVFAC and USACE, met in Washington,
DC. The Board convenes regularly to review requests for changes
in the software and set the priorities and direction for the design of
