This command can be executed from the Editor's Toolbar, Right-click Menu, or keyboard shortcut Ctrl+H.

 

Allows you to search the active file for the specified text and replaces with different text.  You may perform the search and replace either from the cursor location through the end of the file, or throughout the entire file from beginning to end.

Search For

Enter the text you wish to replace or choose from the drop-down list (previous searches are saved)

Replace With

Enter the text you wish to replace it with, or choose from the drop-down list.

Options

Searches for the text to be replaced only in whole word form.  It will not find the text if it is a partAll sections are divided into three parts: General, Products, and Execution. of another word.  Keep in mind finding the plural of a word will be affected by this choice - entering "tile" will not find "tiles".  Ignoring Case finds all occurrences of the entry, disregarding case.  Confirm Changes gives you the chance to approve each change found.

The option From Cursor will search from the cursor location to the end of the file, whereas Entire File will search the file from the beginning to the end.

Change All

Finds and replaces all occurrences.

In order to perform a Search and Replace, you must do the following:

  1. From the Editing Window, select the Replace Button on the ToolbarToolbars assists the user in preparing and editing specifications by allowing quick access to commonly used commands. If you place your mouse pointer over any toolbar button, you will see a tool tip telling you the command associated with that button., or Right-clickTo press the right button of a mouse and release it to open a menu and choose Replace
  2. Place your cursor in the Search For field, then enter the text to Search
  3. Place your cursor in the Replace field, then enter the text to Replace it
  4. Choose the Options you wish to use
  5. Choose to search From Cursor or the Entire File
  6. Select OK to change one instance or Change All for all instances
