This command can be executed from the SI Explorer's Toolbar command, Right-click Menu, or keyboard shortcut Ctrl+A.

A Section Template is used for adding unique Sections to a Local Master or Job, not available in the Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) Master and for creating new UFGS Sections. The UFGS Section Template adheres to the Unified Facilities Guide Specification (UFGS) Format Standard (UFC 1-300-02).

Allows you to enter the appropriate MasterFormatMasterFormat is used throughout the construction industry to format specifications for construction contract documents. The purpose of this format is to assist the user to organize information into distinct groups when creating contract documents, and to assist the user searching for specific information in consistent locations. The information contained in MasterFormat is organized in a standardized outline format within 50 Divisions (16 Divisions pre-2004). Each Division is subdivided into a number of Sections Number and Title as well  When entering the new Section Number in the field, the software will automatically provide the correct format in accordance with the MasterFormat numbering.

After entering the appropriate Section Number and Title, you will need to select the appropriate Section Template.

View Section

Is disabled when adding a Section Template .

ADD

Will add the selected Section Template and display it below in the Contents section (bottom pane), with the pending action Add Template, listed below the Action column.  When adding a Section Template that is already in the Job or Master, the pending Action will reflect Overwrite Template.

 

Illustration Icon Indicating StopIn order to add a Section Template , the Section Number and Section Title must be entered and the Section Template must be selected, otherwise the Add button will remain disabled.

Connect Masters

This command will open Setup > Connect Masters, so SpecsIntact can search your system for additional MastersA group of standard Agency (Master) Guide Specifications used in the preparation of a Job. that are available to you.

Working Directories

This command will open Setup > Working Directories in order to either select, deselect or add additional Working Directories that are available to you.

Action

All Sections you selected to Add will be listed in the Contents section (bottom pane), with the pending action Add or Overwrite Template listed beside it.

 

Illustration Icon Indicating Rick-Click MenuRight-clicking on a Section with an action pending will allow you to choose to Undo the action and remove the Section from the Contents pane.

 

Illustration Icon Indicating Important Information To NoteIf you choose a Section that is already in the Job, you will be asked if you want to overwrite it.  Keep in mind that if you overwrite a Section that has already been edited, you will lose your changes!

Source

The displayed Source indicates where the Sections will be copied from during the Add Sections process.  The source can be from the Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) Master, a Local Master , a Job, or unknown (a location on your system or added directly through e-mail).

Add Sections Common Control

Browse

The Browse function allows you to search your computer system or network drives for SectionA set of files within the Division of a Master or Job that covers specific aspects of construction. (.sec) (not Templates) files that you want to add to your Job or Master.

All Sections you choose will be listed in the Contents section (bottom pane) of the dialog box, with the pending action Add or Overwrite Section listed beside it.

How to Add a Section Template

  1. From the SpecsIntact Explorer, right-clickTo press the right button of a mouse and release it to open a menu on a Job or Master
  2. Select Add Sections and choose the TemplatesA Template is an outline that provides examples of how text should be entered in SpecsIntact format when creating a new Section. Tab
  3. From the Templates Tab, below New Section, enter the appropriate MasterFormat Number and Title
  4. Select the UFGS Section Template
  5. Click the Add button
  6. Select OK
